Er was in aanloop naar de conferentie veel om te doen geweest. De organisatie van de conferentie werd vanuit rechts extreme/populistische hoek relaties verweten met terreur. ‘Onterecht’, zo stelde burgemeester Aboutaleb aan de hand van rapporten van inlichtingen- en veiligheidsdiensten.
